What is Flu? What are its symptoms and Treatments?

Flu is a respiratory illness that is caused by a virus. It can spread by sneeze or cough of an infected person. This virus travels in tiny droplets caused by coughing or sneezing. It can also spread by shaking a hand or touching the infected person. People are usually affected in winters or early springs.

What are the symptoms of the Flu?

Flu symptoms can differ from person to person. Common symptoms of flu include:

  • Coughing
  • Sneezing
  • Sore throat
  • Blocked or runny nose

Along with the above symptoms, flue patient can also feel:

  • Cold sweats
  • Shivering
  • High temperature
  • Headache
  • Aching joints
  • fatigue

There are also some symptoms of flu such as vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea which are not common in men, however, common in children

Who is at risk of flu?

Flu is not a severe disease itself. However, it can cause some severe complication. People who are it the risk of the flu are:

  • older people
  • young children
  • a person with an infected immune system
  • people with diabetes
  • people taking steroid
  • cancer patients

Treatment

Antivirals

For the treatment of flu, your general physician may recommend you Tamiflu or Relenza.

Pain relief medication

To ease the pain, you can also use pain relief medication. You can consult with a doctor about the headache or pain in the other body parts. Some medicines are not suitable for the children; you need to consult your doctor before taking the medication.
